The Fountain Delayed

Daniel Swensen

From Sci Fi Wire:

Warner Brothers has moved the release date of Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming SF romantic epic film The Fountain to Nov. 22, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, from its original Oct. 13 date, Variety reported. The move pits The Fountain against Buena Vista’s Thanksgiving release, the Tony Scott-directed Deja Vu, which also has a time-travel theme.

Starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, The Fountain jumps from the 15th century to the 25th century in its story of a man who struggles to save the woman he loves.

Deja Vu is the story of an ATF agent who travels back in time to save a woman from being murdered, falling in love with her during the process.

The Fountain is slated to play the 63rd Venice Film Festival in early September.

First of all, if you haven’t seen the full trailer for The Fountain, it looks absolutely amazing. If that doesn’t do it for you, how about the equally amazing poster?

Second of all, I haven’t heard anything about Tony Scott’s Deja Vu, but it sounds like something to avoid as you might a wasting disease from an early Peter Jackson film. I’m excited enough about this movie that the thought of more waiting makes me want to whine about it on the Internet, as seen here — hopefully this means The Fountain won’t get sunk at the box office by friggin’ Tony Scott. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Er - it looks to me like the move does pit it against Tony Scott, where it wouldn’t have been pitted so before. Unless I mistake your meaning. Um.

    SHUT UP!
