Vincent Macropod in “Back in the Saddle”

“Hellboy: Blood and Iron” was super-awesome, and don’t let anyone tell you different. Especially the goon who runs this site. (I kid! I kid! He may well love it!) I must, however, reserve final judgment for the DVD, as it seems to me that this was a film that placed much stock in atmosphere. And the Cartoon Network respected this goal by putting in a commercial break every five minutes, literally, I think. There’s nothing to kill a dark, horror atmosphere like fucking Naruto.

Going in sort of a new direction with the cartoon. What do you think? In any case, this one’s dedicated to my brother Josh.

There is, my friends, an annotation below the orange letters. I hope you enjoy it.

- Oddly enough, there is an artistic reference in this one: Vincent’s eyes are based on those of Cynicalman, by Matt Feazell - the best stick-figure superhero ever. Cynicalman, I mean, not Feazell. Feazell’s the runner-up.

This seems very meta to me. I kind of like it, actually.

Man, if one more person tells me that they ‘actually’ like my stuff, or that they read ‘even’ it, so help me…

    “:)”

Through the miracle of a borrowed DVR machine, I was able to edit out the 2 dozen or so commercial breaks during Blood & Iron, which does help make things better. But, just like Sword Of Storms, the Cartoon Network presentation is too dark and compressed in comparison to the DVD. And there are a lot of scenes in near darkness to begin with. On top of that, CN keeps flashing their logo in the corner and that TV-14V warning after each commercial break…cuz this thing is damn violent. Despite all that, it’s well worth catching instead of waiting 3 months. It blows away Sword Of Storms, seriously. Stones & Co kicked everything up to a much higher level. See it ASAP.

I actually even liked this cartoon :) Man, Pac-Man isn’t looking so good these days. It’s good to see him working again after his TV show got cancelled, though.

As a person who subconsciously says “actually” in front of everything I love (ie. “actually, this lasagna is awesome…” and “actually, I don’t think that shirt makes you look fat at all”) I’d like to register my … uh… protest? I’ve got nothing to protest. Moving on.

… the comic is awesome. VM is looking sharp. And pointy.

I liked it, in spite of myself.

Now see? See what you’ve kind of actually started?!

I suppose you expect me to enthusiastically embrace change. You know me better than that, Rev. Don’t ask for things you know are impossible!

Well, if it makes you feel better then, I didn’t like it at all.

    :) (Smiley absolves all)

Brilliant. Even after weeks of anticipation and build-up, “Vincent Macropod: stick figure kangaroo” still delivers!
