A Brief Aesthetic Foray: Do Not Panic

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

In case you’re wondering about the sudden visual change to dimfuture.net, it’s undergone an overhaul. I’m merely making some back-end changes to the theme, as I realized a bit ago that the links were no longer properly showing up, quite possibly because of the switch to the latest version of Wordpress (but then again, maybe not — I don’t know how long they’ve been gone). So, I’m switching to a more stable theme until I can get the issues with the “original” theme fixed. Thanks for your patience!

Edit: And we’re back to our trademark dystopian orange! That didn’t hurt so much, did it? Yes, this is now the default theme, at least until further notice. So, you see, within the space of a single post, I made a liar out of myself!

Movin’ On Up!

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Reverend Matt for landing a writing gig at Superhero Times, where he is writing action figure reviews with all the skill and aplomb that made him famous here at dimfuture.net. Although he hasn’t outright said so, I fear this means the end of Men of Action at dimfuture, and we will all be the poorer for it. Actually, come to think of it, he may have outright said so. Well, we’ll see. I enjoyed Men of Action tremendously, and I know many of our readers did too, and I hope the Reverend’s writing at Superhero Times makes him into the vengeful, angry God many of us already know him to be.

Meanwhile, look for a new installment of the now pathetically long-suffering Twelve Days of Dimfuture, soon to reach ironic greatness in its own mounting irrelevance!

A Dim New Year!

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

It’s officially 2007, and that means everything we’ve come to associate with the first heady days of a new year — fresh starts, false promises, and killer hangovers. Although real-life circumstances prevented me from completing Twelve Days of Dimfuture in a timely holiday fashion, first on my list of resolutions is to finish it up in January. The good Reverend will no doubt be continuing to bring you his particular brand of awesome entertainment, and we look forward to dimming your future even more in 2007 than we did in 2006! I hope everyone had a happy holiday, and may this year make last year look like a total piece of crap.

So it goes.

This is just a brief placeholder to let you know that you probably shouldn’t expect new posts from me until Friday or so. Real life sometimes takes priority over blogging, fun as it is, and I have some things I need to take care of. But I’m not abandoning this project — I’ll be lucky to finish it before the new year, but it will get finished!

So, if I don’t see you, Happy Holidays and all that.

Broke the key off in the lock…

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

The Internet is full of memorable mishaps. Ghyslain. The “developers” chant. The guy who whacked off to World of Warcraft. Pretty much the entirety of YouTube, actually. But then, there are the smaller mistakes, the sublime moments of routine idiocy so small, you might miss them if someone weren’t around to point them out and mock them without pity.

Such is the fate of Twelve Days of Dimfuture, where I promised to deliver twelve beloved genre films, and then proceeded not to publish them. Oh, I wrote them. They were there, in all their digital mediocrity, waiting to be devoured by an indifferent populace of dozens, but they were marked as “private” because, in the ancient words of my hoary Viking forefathers, I R a dumass.

But, never fear! The first two Days of Dimfuture can easily be found by clicking on the “Movies” link at the left. (Or by scrolling down. Way down. No, further… keep going… keep going… too far!) So, please enjoy them at your leisure… assuming the heady odor of rank incompetence hasn’t already driven you off.

Tomorrow: More of the same!
